Hope’s final fifteen minutes confused me. I thought it was just a straight up sci-fi thriller, action film, but it turned out to be the opening chapter of a series of movies. A trilogy? Two movies? Who knows? I went in thinking it was a self-contained universe, but left with a large universe to reckon with.
The last half even had no explanation of who was who or what was what. We just know that the aliens didn’t want to see some dude explode. Who that alien dude was only the writer knows. We’ll find out in part 2.
I think everyone going in wasn’t expecting it to be continued. It made people hate it for that.
