Actually…

Actually, this is the second MV for Nogizaka46’s 29th single, “Actually…” It is released today, but this MV has only recently just come out on Sunday. If you buy the single, you’ll find another version — a 20 minute dramatic version. It was all drama to get us here. Ten years and they finally got some drama in the form of their latest recruits, 5期生.

So the original center for this single was to be one of their newest members, Nakanishi Aruno, who just joined at the start of the year. But then she was cancelled. In reality, some of her past social media posts came to light. They were pretty awful to say. Eventually, she had to go on hiatus to hide from the backlash against her.

This was at the start of the month. They had filmed the music video before then. And burned the CDs already. So therefore there are two versions for the title song.

It will be a while for me to get the CDs. I’m sore over how this release went down. Also, a bit skeptical of Nakanishi and 5th Gen. I do like the song, and I still love the group. Weirdly, I can’t wait to get the CDs in my hand.

Covid-19 Days – 51: A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Oops. I missed a day. Am I starting to slack?

I realized this when I woke up this morning. I went to bed early last night and completely forgot. I was fast asleep by 10 PM. I wanted to get as much sleep as possible. I think I slept for at least 8 hours!

So, this post should be the first of two today. What I did yesterday? Cooked some arrozcaldo and contemplated the beautiful weather. What will I do today? You’ll have to wait at least 12 hours to find out… more next time!

Offline

Sorry about those offline videos, but that’s what happens when you link to them from YouTube and their Japanese rights owners complain and revoke the accounts. I wish I could still bring you awesome Nogizaka46 videos, but YouTube takes too much.

Your Cart Is Empty

it would help

Received an email from Zappos this morning that they had 1 pair of shoes that I wanted in stock. So I clicked the link to purchase. When I put it into my shopping cart, it said that they did not have it in stock any more. Yet, it still said that there was a pair in my size left. Ha!

So here they are mocking me. Making me want to reach into my iPad and straggle them. Come on. If it’s there it’s there. But don’t tell me it is when it isn’t. I mean you’re computer could’ve stopped and told me there was none left before I tried to add it to the cart.

Computers can calculate a lot of things.

You, sir, are no chef

I’ve had some of the dashi I made for ramen taking up space in my freezer for a few months now. I also have a ton of shiro miso in the cupboard. I think I’ll make some miso soup. How hard can that be?

First, I thaw out the last of the dashi and get it boiling on the stove. It’s about a cup and half of dashi. I then decide that I should put some vegetables in the soup, so I slice up a carrot and throw it in the boiling dashi. I cook this for a few more minutes. In a moment of stupidity, I decide to throw some wakame seaweed in as well. After all, most of the miso soup served at your garden variety Japanese restaurant is contains wakame (and tofu). Then comes the miso. Just 1 tablespoon. I let this cook for another few minutes then plate and serve.

Blecc! I can only get throw a couple of spoonfuls before I throw it all away in disgust.

First of all it is too salty. I always thought it was 1 tablespoon per cup, but now I know that it should be less. The dashi probably adds to the salt as well. As far as the carrots and wakame go, they don’t do so well together. I should stick to the tried and true wakame and tofu recipe or maybe find some other vegetables that would work with carrots. What’s scaring me is that I had some sardines staring me in the face and I wanted to add it to the mix.

All my attempts at Japanese cooking needs more research.

What have I got in my pocket?
