Purple Machine

Ravens are playing in the ‘Big Game’ tomorrow. They’re looking for their second championship. They can do it if they beat the 49ers of San Fran. Here’s to hoping they can.

Went to get a t-shirt at the local sports store. Place was packed to the gills. Everyone and their uncle and his kids and neighbors was there trying to get some purple paraphernalia for the ‘Big Game.’ I grabbed a generic purple Ravens t-shirt and skee-daddled out there as quick as I could. Told the the doorman, “Go, Ravens!” as I walked out.

You would think that I would already have some kind of Ravens paraphernalia, but I don’t. Not since a co-worker kept complaining about baseball/Orioles turned me off of truly rooting for the team. The Bucs still hold a place in my heart. They’re still my team, but you have to root for the home team. I sure will. Go team, go! Win the ‘Big Game!’

Quote of the Day [1.29.13]

Les sanglots longs
Des violons
De l'automne
Blessent mon coeur
D'une langueur
Monotone.

Tout suffocant
Et blême, quand
Sonne l'heure,
Je me souviens
Des jours anciens
Et je pleure

Et je m'en vais
Au vent mauvais
Qui m'emporte
Deçà, delà,
Pareil à la
Feuille morte.

Paul Verlaine, "Chanson d'automne"

No idea what to say about this. Flash doesn’t work on the TiBook, so I’m posting this as a reminder to check it out later when I have a better computer. It’s bookmarked. Of course, I could’ve just favorited the tweet, but, well, you know. Lazy.

Quote of the Day [1.23.13]

"We cannot mistake absolutism for principle, or substitute spectacle for politics, or treat name-calling as reasoned debate."

President Obama, Second Inaugural Address, Jan 21, 2013

Effie, Madge and Mabel. Biddie!

Not a Jaguar, but still fun little song to play on a Fender. BTW, got a nice new guitar; a mahogany Taylor GS Mini. That makes 4 guitars: the Tele, the Takamine dreadnought, the Epiphone dot, and the GS Mini. That also makes 4 things I own with the “mini” monicker, the Mini Cooper S, the MacMini, iPad Mini, and the GS Mini. I like small things what can I say.

Link of the Day [1.16.13]

This kind of scares me: ruthless striving for efficiency causes complexity. Here's anecdotal evidence from the banking industry. The pursuit of efficiency doesn't make things simple at all. I wonder if this is a type of paradox that has yet to be named. I wonder if my bank works the same way. Most likely, it does, and I am kind of scared.
