Out & About [Singapore]

It’s both a city and a country!! Huzzah for the Merlion!!

I can’t believe it has been six years since I had visited Singapore. It’s a place I would love to go back. I am glad I went before it truly became the hot destination to go to after Crazy Rich Asians made it a star. Still, it’s one of those places that seem to be so lively to be at. Enjoy this walk about.

Covid-19 Days – 26

Want to do want these daily posts to be about? Is it my journal of what living through these times? Is it commentary on the current days events? What is it?

A blog.

First of all, I just wanted to write daily. This is the perfect time for it. Trapped at home with most nothing to do. I have blog I should use it. As you know when you look at my post counts, the blog has been stagnant for quite some time. Very few posts a month. Now is the perfect time to start writing. I can comment on what I see and what I am doing. Just my own slice of documenting living through the days of COVID-19.

Second, I wanted to write about the social and political turmoil going through these times. Except thinking about the politics makes me angry. Donald Trump makes me angry. Republicans make me angry. The GOP makes me angry. If there was ever time for the tumbrels to roll, nows the time. Their nefarious dealings and doings reminds me of the Battlestar Galactica reboot a decade ago. They fiddling around while the Cylons are showing up at New Caprica. They’re going to make peace with the devil and feed us into the infernal flames. I wish they would be the first to go, but sadly it us, the small folk, whole will suffer.

Third, working from home and I don’t want to interact with anyone anymore. Let me just do my job, code up some functionality, check-in the code, mark the story done. The other parts of work can all go away.

Last. I went for donuts. They were out of most every flavor. When will this nightmare end?

Covid-19 Days – 25

WFH sucks. And I am squatting like that!

Surprisingly, I’m still posting something daily. I can’t say the same about my exercise routine. I tried doing some “7 minute” exercise, but that was too, too long. Then I tried a stair challenge: 10 times timed. I got to about six days.

I don’t think it is lack of motivation. I am down 5 lbs. since the start of March, so I know I want to lose some more, but its just that it’s no fun. It’s better to sit on my butt and watch YouTube videos. I guess this is the same as the olden days.

Anyhow, the image above is from BusinessTown via kottke. I guess that’s me working from home, but the monkey has got a chair. It reminds me that I need to clear my office of the clutter so that I can work at a desk.

Covid-19 Days – 24

Let Erika Ikuta bring a smile to your face during these trying times. That’s all I’ve got for today. I think that’s enough to last us the rest of the week.

Covid-19 Days – 23

We’ve been sharing the food we’ve been cooking while locked up at home. Some of it looks good. Others look like a mistake. It’s all about cooking and staying at home since we really can’t go and eat out. If you do, it’s got to be carry out.

Today I wanted some donuts. There’s a Dunkin’ about a mile up the road. It’s not that far to walk as I do this almost weekly. I was going to buy a cup a coffee and a couple of donuts and eat them on the curb. Unfortunately, Dunkin’ only accepted drive thru. I didn’t want to bother, so I bought a box of six of Krispy Kreme from the Royal Farms on the other corner. It wasn’t the same.

So I got my walk in, and stimulated the economy, and ate some donuts. Maybe we’ll do some more tomorrow.

Covid-19 Days – 22

Now the laziness kicks in. Today I’ve got nothing to say. Just chilling at home. I did take the truck in. Turns out it was the AC giving up the ghost. I’m getting it fix. Just because summer’s just around the corner.

Beyond that, it’s all a waiting game as I am sure you’re all aware of. There really isn’t a place to go as things are kind of closed. I miss the bookstore. I miss going to some lame store just to browse. Eh. Things aren’t the same.

Covid-19 Days – 21

So, the truck has a coolant leak. What’s to do about this? Are auto shops open? Can you sit and wait or do you drop it off? Can I just wait for it to drain completely? But you know what, I think I would’ve been lazy about it even without the rona running around. Personally, I hate when these things happen. I’m doubly hating this because of the uncertainty about how to proceed.

Anyhow, I’m working on an off Friday to make up the hours that I need for this week. At the moment, I’m still short. LOL! Just need a couple of more hours.
