Would you believe…
That I can’t wait for this to come out even though Steve Carell isn’t a favorite?
Can’t wait.

Can’t wait.
Not posting much.
Can’t figure out what to say.
I’m sorry to my regular readers.
I’ll try to get better, but school work is making me anxious.

Lance Mannion, my favorite blog writer, writes of missed opportunity at the bookstore. Loved the tale. Once again, he shows how compelling a writer he is always provocative and provoking of thinking from his readers.
I spend lots of my time in bookstores. Friday and Saturday nights or Sunday days perhaps just hoping for some kind of missed opportunity as well. Very little is left to chance and as it so happens it’s happened very little to me.
Except today, I was in the BN burning off a coupon for 60% off an item (Ken Burn’s Jazz for only $72!). I pay for my purchase. The girl ringing me up says as she hands me the bag, “You know you’re handsome.”
Uhh, thanks?!?.
And I walk away.
It brings me back to Lance Mannion’s post. Missed opportunity?
Maybe. I haven’t flirted with a girl in a long time. Was this even flirting? Did she say it as a statement of fact? Or was this something else? I am probably flattering myself, but I don’t ever remember a girl tell me something like that. Just one of those things I guess.

Ate at VIPS. Hamburger. Was really in the mood for some sort of rice dish. Walked around to the plaza del sol and back. Met a filippino. He talked about the cars have bumps on them because of parking. As long as the bumper doesn’t fall off. You’re fine.8:35
Morning. It’s quiet. It seems no one’s awake. Got to go. Adiós, Madrid

12:45 Madrid – Hotel Alicia
What am I doing in my room? I should be out partying. Now. Got into Madrid about 2:30 yesterday. Ate some donuts on the road. Got told to fuck off by Walter because of driving en España. Had some tapas on the square. Ate dinner at 10:30 at Muséo dé Jamon. This hotel is too vogue-ish.9:10 Hotel Alicia
Toured Madrid all day. Went to the Prado. Saw just about everything again. Went to Rénia Sofia. Saw Miro, Picasso, Guarnica, Tired. Bought tchotkes. I’m out of cash. Only have €5.30.
No need to get me this for Christmas. I picked it up today. I’ve exhausted Netflix of her films. Still, I get this box set, and I haven’t seen half of them. I can’t wait for some free time to pop them into the DVD player.
Here’s one final list of Miss Stanwyck films to round out celebrating her 100th and the release of this box set. It’s Kim Morgan’s top 5 (Baby Face, Forty Guns, Double Indemnity, Ball of Fire, The Lady Eve), but make sure to click through to her top 10. Anyone who ranks The Lady Eve as her best film over Ball of Fire is aces in my book. As is Miss Stanwyck.
After arriving home from Spain, I find out my Tivo isn’t working. This particular model is connected with my DirectTV receiver. The shows were coming in fine, but it didn’t record.
So naturally, I reboot.
Big mistake.
The shows from the satellite stop showing and I’m forever stuck at the start up screen.
First of all, this is the second machine that’s done this. I think also I went away for the week and came back to find Tivo gone. I think I turned up the thermostat causing the hard drive to overheat and go bye-bye.
Second, that is the worst design ever. I can’t use my satellite receiver once I restarted the machine. What bone head designed this thing. They should’ve been separate processes with barely any dependencies upon them.
So any way I solve my problem the way I know best. I buy another DirectTV receiver with DVR.
Let me stress that, WITH DVR.
It’s not Tivo, but some lame ass DVR.
It doesn’t work like Tivo.
It’s not elegant like Tivo.
It feels funny and acts totally different.
It’s not Tivo.
I don’t like it.
Like a Windows machine.
