“Well, it wasn’t even jail. It was juvie.”

Twenty-four singles and for each they change their uniform. These are just their everyday garb. They also have a costume for when they perform the songs from that single.

I like the later ones than the earlier ones. I’m partial to the winter ones with stockings in place of socks. I like the ones with jackets and vests. The skirt length has gotten longer,

Anyhow, go check out the youngest in Nogizaka as she wears all the 24 uniforms. There’s even a bonus few more representing each successive generation.

Ready Or Not?

Movies in theatres are in decline. It’s missing the mid-level movies. It’s nothing but block busters. There’s really nothing showing. Ready Or Not? was a small summer movie. It would’ve been a mid-level movie, but compared to all the rest released this summer, it would’ve fit that bill years ago.

The craziest part of this movie is that it was a deal with the devil. The actual devil! I wasn’t expecting that.

Any how watch it when it comes on cable.

3 of 5 stars.

“Come on, Lisa, you know how people feel about Yoko Ono.”

I bought a rack of ribs the other day during my weekly grocery shopping. I’ve never cooked ribs. I’ve eaten them, but never cooked. You see ribs seem to be best cooked in a smoker or on the grille. Yet, I’ve eaten them from the oven. My mom does it. My uncle does it. I guess I’ll have to do it.

I halved the rack last night. If I’m going to mess this up, I’ll at least have the other have to try. One half went into the freezer. The other I seasoned with salt, freshly ground black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. I placed this half into the fridge waiting for today to cook.

I then busily went about looking at youtube videos and DuckDuckGo search results for how to cook ribs in the oven. Most of the recipes were for barbecue style with a wet sauce. I wanted it dry. Most of the recipes had the rack cooking for 3 to 4 hours. I decided to try half that because it was half a rack. Most recipes cooked the ribs wrapped in aluminum foil. I left it open to the oven.

So how’d I do it? Here’s how…

Oven preheated to 350F. Pulled the half rack out of the fridge about 30 minutes before it went in. When it did, I let it cook for about an hour. Checked on it, put in under some aluminum foil, then left it in for another 25 minutes. Then I went about broiling it. Five minutes on one side at high — this is the side with the meat. Three minutes on low on the side with the bones. I took it out and covered it again with the aluminum foil for another 5 minutes. I think it was done. Cut it up and plated it.

It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t as juicy and succulent. It was a bit dry, and the thicker parts were somewhat tough. The cartilage was tough to eat. I ate this half rack wishing it was better. I guess I know where to start making it better. First, read this blog post to see where I went wrong. Next, the half rack sitting in the freezer…

“My head is popcorn.”

I’ll always will remember the ending to that NogiBingo! episode wherein she lays asleep behind the scenes trying on the AD role.  That’s Sakurai Reika, Nogizaka46’s captain.

By next week she will have graduated.  Here’s to our Captain!  JOLLY GOOD SHOW REIKA!  Well done and thank you…

I still don’t know what Nogi’s captain does.  Is she supposedly the task master keeping her fellow members in line?  Is she the members’ representative with the management?  Is she management’s lackey?  Who knows?  I”m sure the members do, but the thing I know is that Nogi’s captain is a reliable member meant to be steady and reasonable in the crazy idol world.  Reika seemed to embody that ideal. Although it seems like Nogizaka has an abundance of members like that.  So Reika was the most representative of the class and style of a Nogizaka member — a leader.

Man, I’ll miss her. She’s been the only Nogizaka Captain I’ve known.

Suddenly, I’m sad that she’s graduating…

THE CAPTAIN IS GRADUATING.  LONG LIVE THE CAPTAIN.

It was an old RSS reader for the Mac back during the early 00’s when blogging was fun. It’s back in the late teens because blogging is still fun. Go, download it now, if you want a better RSS reader. They Got It From Here. You’re Welcome.

Notes on a book bought in the spring and finally finished this week. The book: Go Ahead in the Rain: Notes to A Tribe Called Quest by Hanif Abdurraqib, a poet and critic. He grew up listening to the great rap group, A Tribe Called Quest. The book is his attempt at placing that love into words. It is a dialogue that he has with the members of group, fans of rap, and the reader. He makes sense of the nostalgia for the group for the time that was as he grew up with their cassettes and CDs. What they meant to him and to the genre and to a young black man.

It is good.

I grew up with A Tribe Called Quest as well. I grooved to this nostalgic trip of a book. I bopped to ‘People’s Instinctive Travel and the Paths of Funk and Rhythm’ my sophomore year in college. ‘The Low End Theory.’ That’s my jam. It blew my mind my senior year. ‘Midnight Marauders’ is the sound track to my post college malaise. Head nodding along with the beats.

Their last two albums don’t register much with me as hip-hop evolved and as I grew older and looked for an identity to call my own. I blaze a few tracks from them now and then, but like all Tribe fans don’t really like the two.

2016. R.I.P. Malik Taylor. And they drop ‘We Got It From Here: Thank You 4 Your Servic’e days after the Donald was elected. The Donald is also a track on that album. I remember grinding on coding problem at work, earbuds in listening to that album knowing that it was call to action, resistance. Head nodding. Just something special to keep the head up as the darkness seemed to envelope us all.

The dark is still here. The albums of A Tribe Called Quest are still, too. Put them on once in a while.

We The People

The great A Tribe Called Quest came back with a slammin’ album in the Nation’s time of need – just days after the 2016 election. This is the opening single. Hits hard…

夜明けまで強がらなくてもいい

Nogizaka46’s 24th single is going to be released at the start of September. Here’s the MV for the title song.

I am not feeling it yet. Also, with the other songs on this single… But I’ll always support them. Maybe to included extras on the BluRays would be completely worth my while.
