Eizouken Likes

The Eizouken anime was big last year. Funny thing about it, there was also a live action drama starring my favorites, Nogizaka46, in particular the member trio of Yamashita Mizuki, Saito Asuka, and Umezawa Minami. All through the year, because the movie was delayed, the mangaka of Eizouken was always tweeting about it which made me laugh because I thought he was becoming a big time wota. Now he’s helped with an alternate version of the 26th single, and now I know he is a big time Nogi wota. Eizouken keeps on giving!

Long time no see! I am making my way through the 14th year of this blog in slow motion. Perhaps I’ll finally write those reviews of movies that I have seen. There’s a few, but I am lazy and haven’t bothered.

Anyway this blog isn’t shuttered just yet. Still meaning to post things. I guess I’ll try with something interesting in the idol world.

It’s Sally! Read up on this American doing idol things as an anime voice actress in Japan. Anime! It’s kooky!!

Inside Out

Inside Out is Pixar’s best film since Up! It made me tear up, because of nostalgia. Nostalgia being the melancholy feeling of looking back at your memories and experiencing joy and sadness. Fudge. I’m a sappy, nostalgic loving sap. I dug this film.

I’ve been watching lots of Simpsons since FXX started showing them after last summer’s Simpsons marathon. I’ve been watching new episodes for me and have started catching up to the last decade that I have missed. Although, they’re not as good as the ones of my youth, they’re passable.

I think today’s link is correct in describing the many phases of The Simpsons. The show did get terribly absurd at the turn of the century, but has been steadily, if unevenly, producing some fun, funny episodes and seasons.

Link of the Day [10.24.14]

Back in August, FXX had run through #everysimpsonsever, a 24-7 marathon of every episode of The Simpsons. It was a brilliant tactic as it got people who had not seen an episode in a long while thinking about The Simpsons again. I was one of those persons. I hadn't watched an episode in a long while perhaps even a decade has passed. But I've returned, because of that marathon. While I missed the first several seasons in the marathon (the best I believe), I caught a few of the latter years. They didn't turn out to be half bad. I found some of them delightful.

Nowadays, you can find me watching The Simpsons when there is nothing on in the evening. I've even caught a couple of the latest season's episodes. And I've been playing that damn Tapped Out game too much.

Where would we be if you had to live in a place of too much Simpsons? Springfield? Nah. Try again.

The Boxtrolls

Boy do I love animation. I am crazy for anime. I am a big fan of Pixar. CG style? I can take it. Hand drawn? Love it! Now for a little love for stop-motion style of Laika. Every couple of years the studio releases one of their hand made gems. Coraline was a revelation. Para-Norman was spooktacular and featured some of favorite animated images of the past few years. The Boxtrolls is fun animated movie to love, too.

The Boxtrolls starts with a kidnapping. The boy becomes a box troll, a race of creatures living in the sewers who recycle things into inventions. They also sound like Gizmo from Gremlins. The movie unravels the tale of why the boy was kidnapped, why the town hates the box trolls, and why cheese is a necessity.

I really dig Laika as an animation studio. Para-Norman was phenomenal and made me wonder how they did it. The Boxtrolls continues on with fine craftsmanship. The story is a little bit trite, but it works. I wish we would get more diverse animated fare in the future.

I don’t know what this was, but I thought it was one of the more hilarious Simpsons couch gags in a long while.
