I agree. More animated movies from Criterion, please.
That was the sentiment of the first tweet I sent @criterion. I would like them to do anime, particularly, Satoshi Kon’s Millenium Actress. It’s been out of print and could be a wonderful film to be done up with the special packaging that only Criterion brings.

Love this version of the School Rumble 1st season ending because Mamiko Noto sings in it along with her sister in animation, Ami Koshimizu. Mostly for Mamiko Noto and her gentle voice. She’s probably the only anime voice actress that you can tell just by listening. There are a few others I recognize, but none as memorable as Mamiko Noto. You can catch her currently voicing Sawako Kuronoma in Kimi Ni Todoke (KimiTodo), the best shoujo out there.
Ponyo or The Princess and the Frog? Faced with this choice, my niece went with the safe comforts of the Disney production instead of the Studio Ghibli film. Who can blame her as The Princess and the Frog had a princess, and Ponyo, well, it had a creepy human faced fish. So what sets an animated movie from Japan from those produced in the United States?
Character matter? Probably not. Ponyo is derived from The Little Mermaid. There is a princess except she’s not pretty. She’s a fish with a face. She’s not an ugly duckling but a true ugly duck. You can’t make her beautiful just by removing her glasses and putting down her hair.
I just wondering if there was a difference…
Ghostbot is done by an animator. I just like the name.
