1975 Topps Brooks Robinson baseball card

Wasn’t just a few posts ago where I reminisced about “Thanks Brooks Day” and my favorite Orioles? It’s with sadness I post about the passing of Brooks Robinson, my favorite Oriole. Like I said, we’re connected just because of “Thanks Brooks Day” back in 1977 which we attended, and it was like my birthday present. It’s just this little bit of connection upon which he became my favorite player. And I had not really seen him play considering he retired just as I became cognizant of sports.

RIP Brooksie. Let’s go, O’s!

RIP Jimmy Buffet. He did not sing the Pina Colada song. That guy in the video did, and as you can tell, he’s no Jimmy Buffet. He’s like your high school science teacher! Anyhow, when Buffet died, I immediately thought of this song, because it is a running joke that he did not sing this song.

I don’t want to make fun of Buffet’s death. I enjoyed his laid back attitude more than his music. I am sure we will miss his leisurely pace in this frantic world. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere. Let’s get some margarita’s.

Darnit. Time moves forward and it robs us of some of our favorite people. RIP Dave AKA Trugoy.

De La Soul had some of the finest rap albums ever and Plug 2 Trugoy was right there with some of the best lyrics. I can not express how much I loved their albums. This one is tough.

Boy did I jinx it this morning. On my way into work listening to my usual Nogizaka playlist, I was thinking of Kazumin. How she’s often forgotten and yet she, Maiyan, and Ringo are the only members left to have appeared in all Nogi senbatsu. As I got out the car, I thought it was a beautiful day, and being such, I thought that this would be the type of day a graduation announcement would drop. I was thinking about Fukagawa’s announcement so long ago. I checked stage48 to see if there was any bad news — usually at this time it catches the night time announcements like Ikoma’s and Nanase’s. There was nothing and I thought we dodged a bullet…

Imagine my surprise to see the rumors then the truth of Maiyan’s graduation. Wow.

For as long as I was a fan, her speculation on her graduation was always rampant. Now that it is here. Nothing can be said. Wow.

It’s not like a punch in the gut like Nanase’s was, but it’s still a surprise. I have been ready for it, here it is, but still. Wow.

She’s gonna graduate at the end of March with the release of the 25th single. I wonder if she’ll be center?

I’ll always will remember the ending to that NogiBingo! episode wherein she lays asleep behind the scenes trying on the AD role.  That’s Sakurai Reika, Nogizaka46’s captain. 

By next week she will have graduated.  Here’s to our Captain!  JOLLY GOOD SHOW REIKA!  Well done and thank you…

I still don’t know what Nogi’s captain does.  Is she supposedly the task master keeping her fellow members in line?  Is she the members’ representative with the management?  Is she management’s lackey?  Who knows?  I”m sure the members do, but the thing I know is that Nogi’s captain is a reliable member meant to be steady and reasonable in the crazy idol world.  Reika seemed to embody that ideal. Although it seems like Nogizaka has an abundance of members like that.  So Reika was the most representative of the class and style of a Nogizaka member — a leader.  

Man, I’ll miss her. She’s been the only Nogizaka Captain I’ve known.

Suddenly, I’m sad that she’s graduating…

My favorite baseball player not an Oriole, Ichiro Suzuki, has retired.

I am gonna miss that guy.

The only jersey I still wear if I wasn’t fat. I would’ve done it today. And I almost did because I knew the Mariners were playing in Japan. But fat.

So glad that I have seen him play.

Misa-senpai, the sexiest of all Nogizaka46 members, has announced her graduation from the group this morning. Another First Generation leaving us soon.

Only know this, the First Generation will quickly diminish. That’s how following idols work. They graduate.
