Jimmy James

R.I.P. Adam Yauch AKA MCA of The Beastie Boys.

It’ll always be ninth grade and driven to a new school in the blue Golf whenever The Beastie Boys are mentioned.

Licensed to ill? No, licensed to thrill.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

That’s what you see on Apple’s home page this evening. Steve Jobs has died and has left us to a future of our own, one where we must decide what technology will be like on our own. That is daunting, but one which we will live in.

As for Steve, he’s the man. You can’t imagine. Or you could because he brought us the future. It’s in your hands. It’s on your desktop. And on your lap. It was his vision and we were glad for it.

He’s made our present the future and our lives less complicated. Thank you once again.

Rest in peace, Steve, rest in peace.

Genre Death

Manga is dying in America.TokyoPop is defunct. Del Manga is defunct. CMX is defunct. The biggest purveyor of manga and the original pusher, Borders, is hanging by a thread. Manga is withering away. It makes my weekly stops at the local big chain bookstores rather depressing. I can't rely on them having any good manga in.It's very sad.

Link of the Day [6.03.10]

I wish I could post this one as a normal video but IniTech blocks "social networking" sites so that blogger is bloggered from work. With all the hoo-ha in baseball over the blown call in Detroit, the retirement of Ken Griffey, Jr. aka The Kid, was overshadowed. Twenty-two years in the majors, no World Series rings, over six hundred homers, and a love and joy for the game of baseball expressed in his smiling face that you can never forget. Dude hit the warehouse in Camden Yards!Today, I give you a video showcasing two good things: The Kid and beating the Yankees. It's from the 1995 ALDS when Seattle beat the Yankees after being down 2 games. This was the deciding fifth game. I think it's in the bottom of the tenth, extra innings. I remember this game, and it has always made me like Seattle.Sayonara, Junior! You're sweet swing and smile will be missed.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOWnLqjF40g
