Link of the Day [11.13.08]

You just can’t get enough of our president elect.

And you just can’t get enough of eight bit sound tracks.

Here’s a really stupid flash game that makes the future feel like the past and the present a moment in time. At least it has the eight bit sound track.

Tally the vote

Over-under for percentage of voters? 66%. My best guess due to this line I'm in.

They walk

I’m all psyched to play my imported PSP game, Macross Ace Frontier, but I don’t have a PSP. So I stop by Best Buy.

So very, very close to purchasing one, but decided against it. I had the box in hand comparing which one I should buy. Madden ’09? Gods of War? Plain black for $30 less? Ratchet & Clank? Why?

In the end, like Robert Deniro in Heat, I walked. Thirty seconds. Gone.

Turns out it was smart decision. Today was the quiet release of an updated PSP: the PSP 3000. You can get it in that Ratchet & Clank bundle. I’ll just wait for the non-bundled one next month. Meanwhile, I’m brushing up on my kanji.

Keynote Bingo

Tomorrow is another big Steve Job’s Keynote speech. He may introduce a new ipod phone or when Leopard will be released. Use this bingo card to play along. You know the rules. Fill in whatever Steve Jobs has said. The winner is the Apple users!

Update:Here’s the definitive Keynote Bingo Card from the originator himself.

When Titles Collide

Over at The House Next Door they are doing a movie title mash up. What’s that you say? Take titles of movies and string them along together, jumble their respective plots, and there you have it.

Don’t get it, then sample some of them there or read a few of mine.

Apocalypto Now. — A pre-columbian epic wherein the protagonist must kill the head of the crazy Mayan tribe.

Se7en Samurai — A Japanese village enlists the help of ronin samurai to catch a serial killer. The english translation doesn’t work: “Kikuchiyo” doesn’t mean “what’s in the box.”

Repo Man on Fire — A man goes after the people who reposessed his car with deadly force.

Repo Manchurian Candidate — The sequel wherein the man gets his car but unbeknownst to him under the careful scrutiny of a secret society leading him to kill a presidential candidate.

The Rules of the Game of Death — A kung fu movie set amongst the french upper class. Passion and action ensues.

Do The Right Thing That You Do — Racial tension on a hot summer day boils over when a band on the rise loses it’s way.

The Hills Have Eyes of Laura Mars — After her eye surgery Laura Mars’s car breaks down in a remote place, she’s attacked by mutant savages, but thanks to the serial killer eyes repels them.

See that’s easy. Your turn.

Omaha

Last night went to dinner for a friend’s birthday. While waiting to go,we played a few rounds of poker. Usually, we play Texas Hold’em, but there were only three of us so play had to be loose. That sucks as there is no hiding your bad hands dealt.

Whenever in these situations, I panic because I hate folding on badhands and letting the other guy steal the blinds. It gets worse whenits just head-to-head because you must play because there is no more strategizing then. You can’t wait for a good hand or the other guy isjust going to build his stack with the blinds you’re giving up.

Anyway, we switched to Omaha Hold ’em. Four cards dealt with thecommunity cards as in Texas Hold ’em. But we played it wrong. It seemsyou have to play two cards from your hand. You can’t play one and get four from the community cards! Wow. That’ll make it even more interesting. Check the link for more rules.

Perhaps a game of high-low.

Pinball Wizards Unite

Similar to the IMdB, I found out about the Internet Pinball DataBase, IPdB. Hooray! Another something site to peruse and waste time at work.

Pinball always reminds me of my time at the University of Miami (FL). I was always playing pinball. My favorite ended up being WhiteWater. Yet, the most famous pinball coming out of that time was The Addams Family.

You should find them all there.
