Link of the Day [12.16.20]
In my own going vendetta to get you to stop using Google products, you may wonder how to defeat this monster. I don’t know. Maybe ask these fools.

People, why do you use Chrome? Why, internet people, do you think it’s the best browser?
I know of the Internet Explorer of 2020. It’s Chrome, and it has taken over the browser share like IE back in the day. Like IE, it’s just stupid that it has become the default browser. People, we’ve been down this rainy street before. Stop. Don’t give to Google. They already own the internet.
Take it from me, someone who has measured it out!
Hurry up for those on the East Coast, these may be gone in another two hours. For those on the West Coast, enjoy for another six hours. For you on the other side of the globe, too bad.
These are your 404 Error pages for the day!

There’s a moe version of the new Internet Explorer? Sign me up! O, wait… <scare quote>Upgrade</scare quote> my operating system to Windows 7 or 8? Upgrade? So cute.
It’s the personification of cuteness that is the bestest.
Do not, I repeat, do not cut and paste from iOS Notes app to the blogger app. The style sheet will be copied as well making your post ugly.
Doesn’t anyone know the beauty of plain text?
Google is freaking me out. Lately, most of the random visitors here are reaching via Google Image Search. It’s bumped up my stats slightly at the expense of making the search terms more weird and more focused on cute asian girls. The images of Nozomi, Kim Ha Yul or some other such cutie are getting pushed to the front of the image search results. Dang it’s weird. Here’s today’s search terms.

With all the talk today of SOPA/PIPA, I'm craving for a sopapilla.
It’s rather late in the day for a Link of the Day, but here’s one for you.
If your late to the latest internet meme, you can always check out “Know Your Meme” to catch up. Read up. Catch up. Forget about it. Get ready for the next one.
Upgraded the MobileMe calendar to the latest one because they kept hassling me every time I logged on. Of course doing so came with plenty of caveats. First is that it is really for Snow Leopard. Sadly, my main machine is still Leopard. I haven’t taken that plunge because of the file binding issue. Second, is that MobileMe hates the Camino browser and Mozilla in general. Not really, but Camino is getting long in tooth and is probably on its way to the dev/null in bit bucket heaven.
So I go ahead any way. Ignoring these warnings.
Once I am done I am curious as to what really happens upon the sync. I open up iCal. Create a test entry. Click sync.
I get the weird diff viewer telling me I had a couple hundred events that were about to be deleted. Cool! It’ll clean my stuff up. Of course it will and it did. Cleaned it all sparkly and new so that I had no more calendars in iCal. Now how am I to sync? Luckily, Apple knows that some users are just lazy and has helpfully created a support page to address syncing with 10.5.x. My calendars are back.
Now hop do you sync with 10.4.x?
Just bought one of these SSD drives from OWC. I’m using as my storage disk for music and photos. Or rather, I am planning to use it, but like the last hard drive I bought, I haven’t gone through the steps to break down both media libraries and transfer them to that drive.
Yup, it’s a network drive hanging off the Airport Express. I chose an SSD drive so that I don’t have to worry about spinning disc failure. I, also, want to connect it to Mobile Me and Back To My Mac so that I can access it from the road. Yet, I can’t really figure out how that all works. I have yet to successfully log onto my Mini from outside the house. I’m even having trouble with logging onto it via remote desktop while I am home.
All this network computing — it’s all ridiculous.
