Anime 2009 in the Spring

Each of these links could’ve been a link of the day, but as it is I am kind of excited about watching some new anime so I had to post this so that you too can be excited about new anime.

White Album has Aya Hirano as one of the voice actresses so this anime will have some singing.

Mariaholic looks to have some ecchi-ness, but with a trap. Looks to be fun.

Rideback has some cute anime girl in the lead.

Hetalia Axis Powers is an anime with anthropomorphic representation of countries fighting amongst themselves.

I’m getting my bittorrent on!

Movie List 2008

I always compile this list before the end of the year. While looking over my posts of the movies I saw in the theatre, I was surprised that I had a lot of 2 stars even from the ones that were “good.” (I’m looking at you Dark Knight.) I’m also surprised that I saw very few movies. A rough estimate is about 60 this year whereas last year was probably around . I still a few reviews to post, but those films are just average or below. So here’s my list of 4+ star films.

Click the link to read my review. Post your own list.

I’ve also noticed that my list is getting shorter. Either I am becoming a better judge of movies or I am becoming more finicky.

Link of the Day [8.28.08]

Do today what you want to do tomorrow, or some such nonsense such as that. You’ll find these crazy zen koans of life wisdom in plenty books and magazines.

Do or do not. There is no try.

Sorry, that was Yoda. Except, no matter how cheesy it sounds, it is always better to be doing than to not be.

The guy who co-wrote the book, 100 Things To Do Before You Die is dead. He only accomplished about half his list.

So go. Do. Time is running out. You never know what tomorrow will bring.

897 Greatest Albums of All Time on WTMD

As a follow up to their 897 Greatest Songs of All Time countdown from last year, WTMD is counting down the 897 Greatest Albums of All Time. It's a chance to hear some tunes you normally don't hear on the radio.

The other day they played some Jethro Tull which probably hasn't been heard on air in a long while. It was side A to an album. I had to change the channel because it felt like a Jazz Odyssey but heavier progrock-like. I went into the harbor tunnel with it playing and came out with it still on and I think it was still the same verse. I don't know if there was a chorus.

Anyhow, you should listen to it as it counts down. You may hear some fine tunes that'll have you rocking out, especially, as it winds down to number one.

My Year In Film 2008

Twenty-two days into 2008 and I have seen many interesting movies. I would like to catalog them into some kind of coherent statement of my movie viewing experience. Besides my movie reviews, I’m going to list some of the other films watched for which I don’t plan on writing a full blown review . Consider it a film diary. Another metric for me to base my life around.

Anyway onto the movies.

I posted about this before but here's the list of films in chronological

as I don't think he got really interesting until he got to Hollywood.I don't know which to watch. Honestly, I want to see them all.
Practically, I want to see my favorites. I feel like they'll be much
better when watching a 35mm print in a theatre. Perhaps Saturday's in
