Link of the Day [7.19.25]

This should post on Saturday when most any working person has the day off. Saturday is only the first day of the two days for that comprise the weekend. Everyone would love to have a three day weekend.

I do. I have a three day weekend, because my job has gone to a 4-40 schedule.

I love the three day weekend. I am even writing this post on my day off — Friday!

Except that to have this I have to work a mind and ass-numbing 10 hours Monday to Thursday. It’s asinine. Let’s just do thirty-two hours of work for the four days. I know this is impossible for the Capitalists to understand or to agree with.

So I’ll compromise. Thirty-six hours. Nine hours a day. Four days a week. And I’ll still sleep in on Fridays.

Nothing in particular, but here’s the quick link to Nogizaka46 member’s birthday playlists. It’s none of the member’s birthday. At least I think it isn’t.

You say you can’t read Japanese, then just go ahead and pick one. They’re all good even if you can’t understand Japanese. Would I do you wrong?

Oshima Rion was the best Japanese weather caster on WNN, Weather News Now. She was also an F1 fan. I had the biggest crush on her when she was a weather caster. I still do. My favorite trivia about her is that she is a Nogizaka wota as well.

Anyhow, I hope you read this, because it’s great to see her pretty face again.

Wait. Here’s something that I’ve wanted for a long time. You see. I’ve got several Apple IDs. I wish for them to be consolidated into one. Yet that wasn’t ever available until today. Or this is kind of close to consolidation. We’ll have to see.

For now, I’ll just book mark this page.

In olden time, in the dark night of winter, they would tell ghost stories around this time of year. You may know of the most famous one: “A Christmas Carol,” but there are far many Christmas ghost stories out there.

Today’s link is one such story written by Elizabeth Gaskell entitled, “The Old Nurse’s Story.” Read it by the dim fireside to keep the chill away…

BOO!

“Bill, we are not in New York.” “We’re not? Gee, and here I am mistaking the Museum of Yarn for the Guggenheim.”

I go to the bookstore almost every weekend. The same one I’ve been telling you about for the past 20 years. So I’ve accumulated a lot of books, and, confession time, I have maybe only read a tenth of what I’ve bought.

Sad. I know. It’s a sickness, but I can’t be helped. There’s a lot of things that look interesting to read, but not interesting enough to be read.

But that’s just not my problem only. Lots of people do the same. Ain’t that the joke — having books you haven’t read? Yup. So, there’s even a word for it in Japanese… let’s all learn it today!
