MacAppStore

I do not like this development at all.It will bring junk to the Mac. Look at the mobile AppStore. Plus, that split is bothering me. Why should I get permission to put an application out for others to download to their own computer.Don't like this development one bit.

Mac Development

I need to revisit my 5 year plan. Get the fuck out of IniTech and go all Delicious Mac development. But no.I'm a pussy. That's why I work at IniTech.(I think I wrote this post 5 years ago) FML

As you know, I play the guitar. Or rather “play” the guitar — I’m rather bad at it and have no rhythm whatsoever. Still, I love to play it and can’t wait to get another one. In the meantime, I usually try to play songs I like from bands I like. Rolling Stones. Alice in Chains. The Doors. Their songs are simple and playable from guitar tabs found on the net. That’s why I like them.

But there are lots of songs I would love to play, but their tabs are hard to find or nonexistent. Let’s get software to figure it out for us. Here’s a nice Mac program that can help you do just that. I want to try it really bad, but I have to much stuff to do. Perhaps, you can?

This article about Windows taskbar and the OS X dock goes into some of the reasons I hate working on a PC. It has mainly to do with Multiple Document Interface (MDI).

I’m clumsy it expressing my hatred for Windows implementation, so read today’s link and appreciate the Mac paradigm. It also goes along way into understanding why your mom who uses a Mac keeps leaving applications running instead of quitting out of them.

I was wondering what your desktop looks like. Cluttered with files? Neat and pristine like the day you bought it? Weird desktop pics, funky icons, or a completely different theme? Windows, Mac, Ubuntu, commnad line?

Just show me your desktop.

So post a picture somewhere, flickr or some such, and put the link in the comment or on your blog. Let’s see what we can see.

I tried OpenOffice years ago. This was when you had to run it as an x11 application. It totally sucked. Why? First, it had a non-native interface. X11 is Unix apps with all the window-y, unix-y stylizations that that entails. Second, it was slow. On my TiBook it was still rather silly to launch, and menus just appeared with a noticeable delay. Third, X11. You probably don’t run it. You probably shouldn’t run it. You need admin rights to launch OpenOffice. You need to know some command line kung fu as well. It was just painful to use, and I am glad to be using Pages or Google docs instead.

That said, it looks like they are getting around to making it an okay app to run on OS X.
Once it is out of open source/unix-y developers hands, it will take off.

Apple asks, "Which MacBook are you?"
http://www.apple.com/mac/whichmacbook/TheSeed will probably answer, "none of the above."I'm the old school, last gen, aluminum MacBook Pro. Can I be the next
gen PowerBook user?Taking a look at that page, the MacBook Air is pretty sorry looking, so
last year's model. When will it get the new cosmetics to make it sleek
and sexy like its brethren?
