Google Image Search

Google is freaking me out. Lately, most of the random visitors here are reaching via Google Image Search. It’s bumped up my stats slightly at the expense of making the search terms more weird and more focused on cute asian girls. The images of Nozomi, Kim Ha Yul or some other such cutie are getting pushed to the front of the image search results. Dang it’s weird. Here’s today’s search terms.

No Sugar Tonight

I have nothing to blog about. Blogging about not having a subject to blog about seems to be blogging about a subject: no subject to blog about.

Aww, who am I kidding. This post is going nowhere. Sorry about that. Here’s a picture from a decade ago: your humble host in Iceland.

Iceland: Gullfoss

That’s the Gullfoss falls just behind me. This ain’t the US; there’s barely any barrier to keeping me from jumping in!

Un Simple Histoire (A Simple History)

The death of Flash can’t happen soon enough, but you’re still stuck with it. In fact, if you’re viewing this page, Flash is probably killing your browser.

For that, I apologize.

It’s because of me not you. I’m not writing enough posts to fill the gaps between the morning music break. I know that I wanted to write more at least a post a day in December. Except the posts all relate to that Thievery Corporation release from 2002. (Whoa! I thought it was 2003 release.) I was gonna put some filler in between, but I don’t want filler. I want well written posts on subjects that are worth writing about. Plus, link or quotes of the day. Yet, all I got are static YouTube videos of the cover to The Richest Man in Babylon.

What should I write?

A plodding turtle is faster than me

Always looking for advice on blogging. These 10 steps to better blogging are just as good as any. I guess I’ll apply it to my blog. We’ll see how it goes.

As you know, I don’t Facebook. I tweet. I love to blog though — seven years and counting. It’s been a slow but steady set of posts week after week, month after month. Mostly about things I am interested in. They are long form tweets. The link of the day is just laziness as is the quote of the day, but there’s a blog post after each one has been posted. And that’s what makes it worthwhile.

I mainly looking to establish some kind of voice, but it gets lost in some of the other chatter I throw up on here. I let my fingers do the rambling and I end up with posts about nendoroids, cute asians, or Sakaragaoka High School Light Music Club which most people don’t care to read about. I post them because it’s something that I am fond of. I don’t think I am embarrassed by these posts, but I know that they bore my three readers.

I think I’m more successful with my cooking posts. I believe they read very well. I guess I can write about a subject if I need to explain how things are working out.

Yet, I know that my writing is still weak. I’m trying to get better. I better follow that advice.

Slack

I’ve been kind of slack since NewsRadio Quote Month ended. Even then, I let September slip by without many posts there at the end, but really stopped for October. I don’t like to do that as this is my Social Network, and I like to blog — mainly about nothing. Or about everything.

So, let me try to jump start my writing posts again. Maybe write about cooking. I’m trying out several different things with soup. I’ve already made some vegetable stock. I’m trying to stay vegetarian as much as possible, so my soup stock will feature vegetables. Now I’ll have to use it for soup. Coming up some barley spinach mushroom soup. Later on perhaps just mushroom. I’m looking at the Japanese dashi but trying to figure out how to make it less salty.

That’s another thing I have to worry about this time. My blood pressure. I’ve felt terrible the last two months. I’m hopeful I’ll feel better from here on out.

So trust me. I’ll start writing again.

About:Notes

Several things brewing around BrowserMetrics that I feel don't warrant a full blog post, or rather, this is a blog post about nothing and written to advance the date forward. Maybe these are tweets. Read if you must.I just made a slurpy in the freezer at work. Left a limeade/tea concoction in for 2.5 hours and now I need a straw to drink it.That Harry Potter film? I must pen my review. Movie and/or book?I am weighing more than ever.My fridge is acting up. The freezer had a full on melt going on yesterday. Being alone, not cooking, and eating away from home means not much food in the fridge. I only had to throw away thawed frozen pizzas. Got some advice on clearing the dust from its intake vents. Let's hope this works. This is the second time in a couple of months that this problem occurred. Let's hope it's not its death rattle.

The seed wonders aloud why he blogs. He mutters something about cheese sandwiches and Mac forums, but finds that he doesn’t really have anything to add to the conversation that is on the intertubes.

I beg to differ.

Check out this simple list of reasons on why to blog. You’ll find some things there that can fit the niche the seed has carved out for himself. Why skimming that list, I know that the seed has shared his expertise on video recording and editing. He’s currently updating his list of hotties, so that puts him into engaging a debate with total strangers. And one thing, his blog will always represent him on the intertubes, facebook not withstanding. So it’s not completely worthless.

When I look at that list, my main motivation in writing the blog is to create a permanent record of things that are important to me at particular time. I’ll let the google hive mind index it which allows me to remember all of it better. Second motivation on the list is that I really enjoy leading my readers to content that I think (and hope) you would like. Why do you think that my number one tag has been the “Link of the Day?”

Not to go all meta on you, but I did start another post about those “Link of the Day” posts and why I do them, but couldn’t write about it prosaically. Thanks, seed for this opportunity to write something. Actually, that would be the third reason from that list as to why I blog. I like the art of writing, even when I am so terrible at it.

It is totally worth writing a blog. And twitter, too. But you have to be on it to understand. It ain’t 100% junk. It’s another form of conversation. Now about facebook…..

Link of the Day [1.07.11]

Weird facebook thoughts about about not going public and just playing with their own money. No idea if this is the right thing to do. It’s the ruthless thing to do: make money hand over fist outside of the scrutiny the regulators. It’s with Goldman Sachs who themselves don’t have too much of a good thing.

I don’t know where this is going. Just read the link. I just need a link to keep the streak alive. Seven days baby!
