Link of the Day [12.15.10]

I entitle interesting links I find while surfing the web, "Links of the Day," because it makes it easier to email links. If I came up with a clever title for each link of the day or as a regular post, then I would have to be able to log into blogger and use their posting functions. Sadly, when at IniTech, I am blocked from social networking sites, so I can't use blogger from work. And that app I bought for iPhone is good, but typing on iPhone is tedious.Today's link takes you to a maid café in Tokyo. It's a detailed description of the shenanigans that occur as a guest in a maid café. I laughed at some of this, and I cried at some of this. A great point was made that the clients are also being exploited for their need of love and affection. She pointed out that visiting a café is akin to visiting a strip club, but where the latter feeds off your sex drive, a maid café taps into your need for flirty, kawaii (cute) affection. Now would I visit a maid café if I ever went to Japan? I do sometimes crave some kawaii affection, but like going into a strip club here, I don't think I would enter one. It's just not my cup of tea. I'd be too embarrassed to admit my need for kawaii affection, and the need to spend money on it. Although, I just did.Anyway, the writer's experience fascinates and scares me. I always wondered what goes down in a maid café. Finding out what happens is the scary part. Does it make me want to go or to stay away?http://io9.com/5713121/i-paid-a-woman-to-be-my-friend-at-a-tokyo-maid-cafe

“That’s a very cunning plan, but now is not the time for cunning plans or crazy capers.”

Dude! It’s freakin’ September, the greatest month ever. Suck it July!

I have yet to exhaust that gold mine that is NewsRadio. It’s on! BrowserMetrics’ Seventh Annual NewsRadio Quote Month. For you new readers, every post title this month will have be a NewsRadio quote. NewsRadio being the greatest show of the late 90s. And the late 90s being the best time of my life. So NewsRadio is the best show I’ve seen. Even better than The X-Files because it is so much easier to watch in 25 minutes.

Sit back. Relax. Enjoy all the nice NewsRadio quotes. Hope you go and Netflix the episodes and laugh, laugh, laugh with BrowserMetrics.

Newer and Older

I bring you some nice additions to the blog. Ever since I change the layout and created my own template, I’ve been missing a feature that previous versions of BrowserMetrics had. I’ve been missing the capability to go through older posts with a link to “previous 10” or to “next 10.” I hated that using tags, you wouldn’t be able to traverse through older posts.

I’ve fixed that. Check the bottom of the page. You’re welcome.

It even works on the tags.

Here’s a few interesting ones:

  1. Travel log
  2. Baltimore Orioles
  3. Link of the Day

Looking good right?

Tweet Blogging

This should actually go as a tweet rather than a blog post, but IniTech blocks "social networking" sites. I'll have to post it to my blog.I'm actually listening to The Blue Hearts album. The problem is that the titles of the songs are in kanji. I have no idea of the song I'm listening to. I'll just have to rely on their punk-rock energy to enjoy.

They Just Wanna

When in need of something to blog about, I inevitably turn to blogging about blogging. Meta, man, that’s always the way to go when looking for a topic to write about. Yet, I know, everyone who blogs hates blogging about blogging. Navel gazing plain sucks in some blogger’s eyes, but it’s something. I think I like the sound of my keyboard in my ears.

The thing about this blog, it’s a reflection of me. Every post is something that I am interested in talking about. The posts are me. So, if you want to know who I am, at the time, just read my blog. I don’t talk much or go out much anymore, so this is the best I can do to let you know what’s up with me.

That said, I love how reading my archives brings me back in time, and it reminds me that sometimes my writing ain’t so bad. And I need to be reminded, because when the mind is blank, so is the textbox.

I ♥ 

Nice.

UPDATE: Here’s what it looks like on XP running FireFox. Hee. Hee.

UPDATE 2: Here’s what it looks like on my MacBook Pro running Camino. WTF!

UPDATE 3:And here’s the latest Safari!

This blog sucks

This is page views for BrowserMetrics for the last 365 days. As you can see it’s trending down this year, and it hasn’t been as good as it was the same time last year. After completing my Year of links and quotes, I’ve stopped blogging. I don’t know why. I don’t know what to say. I’ve basically just been doing things that only I am interested in. K-ON! Hatsukoi Limited! Cross Game! I’m the only one who likes it.

I”m wondering if there is anything left to say.

Sorry, I’ll try better.
