You Might Find ’em in the Desert

In college a long way back, a friend and I had the midnight slot at our university’s radio station. The Orb’s Little Fluffy Clouds was a track I loved to play. Somehow, it’s been stuck in my brain for years.

Fast forward thirty years (!) and you can find it on the YouTube in several different ways. I chose for you an analog vinyl record. Zonk out to it here.

Music Sounds Better With You

新内眞衣OL,BBA

Nogizaka46 going for the Showa vibes with a tinge of City Pop. I kind of like it. I wish they would do it some more. It isn’t the first time. It will not be the last. Maybe sometime then they’ll try it in their late night show, Nogizaka Star Tanjou.

Shinuchi Mai, as I have already said, is leaving the group in the next few weeks. The song was on Nogizaka’s last album. They released this video so that we will remember her. Last week was her birthday along with Ikuta Erika. She turned 30 which is a very rare age for an idol.

I can listen to this all day…

Link of the Day [5.11.21]

Well, it seems like every few months we’ll put another Nogizaka46 item up. Today is no different. Link to a special site for their upcoming, 27th Single 「ごめんねFingers crossed」(Gomen ne Fingers Crossed).

While I am not too happy with the lineup — the center is Endou Sakura, it still looks to be a great music video. Hopefully, it will be a narrative type. Maybe it is Nogi’s fast & furious version!

Easy Peasy

Here you go. Have this earworm. You don’t know what’s being said, but it will be in your head all day.

You’re welcome.

「I see…」

I either need to write more blog posts or stop blogging about that damn virus. I think I’ll break up the horror with some lightness.

From their 25th Single, it’s the 4th Gen’s song, “I see…” It’s getting closer to a 3rd Gen song, but not quite. If it was performed by 3rd Gen, I would put it just outside the top 5. They have 7 including one on this single. I guess I’m saying that 4th Gen is playing catch up, and they’re finally seeing the backs of their senpai.

I Can’t Forget

The last issue Monocle focused on Japan because of the upcoming Olympics this summer. It had all tidbits and things about that country. Being a complete weeb, I went ahead and bought it. While reading I came across their music section hoping to see if my beloved Nogizaka46 was mentioned. Fat chance that a sophisticated magazine would focus on idols…

It did introduce me to Sakanaction. I believe they wrote that this band had a bit of City Pop influence. While I can’t say for a fact that they were, this single, Wasurerarenaino, definitely does. Check out that square aspect ratio — like the good old music videos of yore! And the band seems to be channeling big suit Talking Heads what with the big suit! Everyone is from an earlier era. I truly like.

Anyhow, please listen and enjoy.

夜明けまで強がらなくてもいい

Nogizaka46’s 24th single is going to be released at the start of September. Here’s the MV for the title song.

I am not feeling it yet. Also, with the other songs on this single… But I’ll always support them. Maybe to included extras on the BluRays would be completely worth my while.

Sweded Nippon

Somehow I’ve became a Lyrical School fan. I guess it’s just that I really like their tunes.

This is their most recent song for the summer of 2019, “Last Dance.” I like the video as well. When I first saw it, I thought that it reminded me of Be Kind Rewind. Then I saw their credits wherein they say they were inspired by the very movie I thought it was emulating. How many sweded films can you name?
