Link of the Day [2.17.16]

Forty-six is not enough. Forty-six is too much. Forty-six is going to be a marathon. Forty-six. Nogizaka46.

They are going to do a 46 hour web cast marathon for their fourth birthday special. You can watch it for free this weekend by following one of the streaming sites on today’s link. I suggest you bookmark it, and then watch it with me starting Friday evening.

I am so psyched.

Duel

Embedding for posterity. Or at least until YouTube takes it down.

This is the A and B sides to Nogizaka46’s last single from last year: Ima, Hanashitai Dereka Ga Iru (今、話したい誰かがいる). The first song is the title song. The senbatsu members are all very, very pretty in this. It is also a very pretty, pretty song. The second song is the Under Girl’s song: Shitto no Kenri (嫉妬の権利). It has the most passionate performance by the members ever. In fact both sides do their song with feeling which is usually hard to find in idol music.

After listening over and over, I think this is a very fine single and can’t wait for the next Nogi release.

バレッタ #乃木坂46

Everything about this song fucking rulez!

The intro, the verses, the choruses… ROCKING!

The senbatsu, the hachi-fukujin + 1, the center, the 2nd generation… GREAT CHOICES!

The dance choreograph, the lyrics, the girls, seifuku… NICE!

The covers of the albums… COOL!

I love this song. I can play it on the guitar. I sing it most every day. Play this at my funeral!

Fukagawa

Fukagawa Mai announced her graduation from Nogizaka46 today. I am sad again.

But it’s not like she’s one of my favorites. I love ’em all. If forced to order, MaiMai would not make my top 10. From reading others, she is beloved by the fans, therefore she’s beloved by me.

She is the oldest currently of the group. It was expected that she would want to graduate soon. I wasn’t expecting anyone from the group to announce so soon after their triumph at Kouhaku. Yet, it had to happen.

The olds are leaving and the news must rise to the challenge. Will Nogizaka46 be the same?

Your Name Is Hope

Good bye, 2015! Hello, 2016!

If you celebrate tonight, this video should help. It’s Nogizaka46’s first showing at the Kouhaku Uta Gessen in Japan and it’s a very big deal. They spent all their focus to achieving this goal. Four years, 50+ members, 10+ graduated members, scandals, heartbreaks, fun, hardship: it’s represented by these two and half minutes. Congratulations, girls! Ganabarre! I hope the next year is as accomplished as this past one.

They did their 5th single, Kimi no wa Kibou (Your name is hope). At least Nagashima got in the senbatsu to sing. And all members are there. ALL! I love these girls…

Link of the Day [12.20.15]

I was lamenting earlier today because I was unable to catch Nogizaka46’s Xmas Live concert. Of course living in the US would make this hard, but their concert was being live streamed in Japan and there are ways to catch it. Luckily, I checked out my favorite bootleg AKB48 video sight and there it is. Now I am watching and I am happy for the day.

Nagashima

Nagashima Seira announced yesterday that she plans to graduate from Nogizak46. There have been plenty of idol graduations during the short period that I have been an idol otaku, but this is one which has saddened me.

Nagashima is my third favorite of the group and the top Under Girl member. I didn’t really pay attention to her until this second video. That laugh and the enjoyment of the roller coaster was what made me her oshi. I was smitten. She’s the group’s leading mood maker in my opinion. I’ll miss that laughter. I’ll cherish her final days with the group.

Barette

Okay. I think I can play this song. Now I need to find KizuKita cover version.

Under

For today, even though it’s half over, we’ll go with the Under Girls song from Nogizaka46’s latest single. The Under Girls are the lower half of the group that did not break into the main single group. They are just as important as the primary group of girls. Also, this song I like better than the primary song on the single. Under Girls rule as well. Let’s all support them!
