Sometimes people with a missing limb need to scratch the missing limb

I finally put the VW back on the road. A week before the Hawaiian Vacation, it threw coolant warning lights on the dash, which turned out to be a leak in the cooling system. I put her in the garage and left her until this month. The snow forecasts forced me to get her fixed. I trust her tires more than the ones on the Cooper S. Hers are newer, less wear, and more all weather types. This morning, as I started her up to get to work, I placed my hand on the light switch. I stopped by the deli to get breakfast, and when I started her again, I placed my hand on the light switch. Where does this behavior come from?I know I do this all the time. Subconsciously, I place my hand on the switch. At times, I flip the switch on. I do this most every time I start her up. Even when I know I do this, I can't help it. I do this in the Cooper S as well. There is no switch on the dash for the lights, so I am reaching for air. Perhaps, writing about it will stop this behavior.

One thing about being a nerd is that you become obsessive on things. Imagine if you were a nerd who loved, loved, loved the anime K-ON!!, then you would absolutely try to learn everything about the show. You’ll find out about the main characters. How tall is Mio? What’s Ritsu’s blood type? Where is Tsumugi from? Is Yui an orphan? Afterwards, you’ll begin to delve into the more esoteric things of the show like the background characters (NSFW). Yup. You’ll research who they are and what makes them tick. Just imagine how nerdy you have to be to do that.

Class 3-2 K-ON!

That’s pretty obsessive. And so kawaii!

Car Detailing MFer!

Yesterday, I washed both my cars. And it kind of sucked because just washing feels somewhat lame.

Late last century with my Mk II VW Jetta, I could have cared less about washing it. It was a light green almost aqua color that hardly showed any dirt. I think I washed it every quarter even less so when I was feeling less than satisfied with her.

When I bought my Mk IV VW Jetta, I barely thought about keeping it clean. Until the second year. Then I was a detailing fiend. I was washing the car once a week. I waxed and polished it twice that year (and the following two years). I even new why and how to use a clay bar. It was perfect for the first four years.

Then it became tough to find time to wash the car. In my new house, I don’t get any shade until the late afternoon around 3. It makes it tough to spend the four hours to really detail the car. That’s just a wash, polish and a wax. It gets too late in the evening to finish it off.

Now with the Mini Cooper, the detailing bug is back. I want to keep the Cooper a nice shiny red. I also want to get the Jetta back to being a beautiful blue. When will I have time to keep this up? What are you doing later?
