2,000 Reasons For It
Sooner or later you’ll let me down.
Sooner or later you’ll let me down.
Not sure what Shiraishi Mai is selling, but more of that off the shoulder action and I will go to my local conbini for some. Also, shouldn’t it really be Misa-senpai selling alcohol because she’s the sexy drinking senpai of Nogizaka?
…now is the time of your friendship to end.
Boo!
Thanks to CapitolSwell, I got the Trojan Ska Box Set 2 for Christmas. (Thanks!) I love ska, but sometimes you can have too much. This set is getting right down to some obscurities. Digging in the crates? It’s digging in the graves. Don’t get me wrong there are fun ska tunes on this disc, but not all of them are classics. More misses than hits. Not bad, but not too good. Only for ska completists. Funny that….
I’m hoping that you enjoyed the past week’s music breaks. It puts you in the island mood. If you want to learn more about some of the rock steady and ska from the latter half of the week, check out today’s link. Then get thee to Amazon and purchase, purchase, purchase….
Prince Buster! Prince Buster y’all. If you ain’t feeling this groove, then I feel sorry for you.
I first heard this tune as a cover on the Trojan Ska box set by the Specials/Beat. That’s a great box set and a great tune if you can purchase, purchase. That is all.
But don’t forget to get up and dance!
It’s not always dub music here on my blog. You’ll occasionally get some rock steady. Now I can’t tell to much the difference between rock steady and ska. Don’t they sound a like? The riddim? Very, very close. Just trying to understand what the riddims are doing.
If you’re in your cube: Get up! Get up! GET UP! GET UP! You just have to move your body to the rock steady.
F yeah!
Let’s get some music up in this place starting with a little bit of Pauline Black and the Selecter covering The Specials AKA’s “Racist Friend.” If you search youtube for the title you’ll also get the original, but also They Might Be Giants’ song as well. They are not the same song.
More ska please. Less racism.
Get up and dance at your desk if you enjoy this…
Why is old school dancehall so cool? I am not really versed in Jamaican dancehall so when I say old school I mean the late 70s and the 80s of dancehall. When it wasn't too rap influenced. What's good? Is there a Trojan records compilation for dancehall? Or do I have to just console myself with Dancehall Stylee volumes 1, 2 and 3? Of which I only have 2 and 3.This posts exposes me more to liking Jamaican music. Ska? Check. Dub? Check. Dancehall? Check. Where's my reggae post?
