Link of the Day [10.02.08]

Lance Armstrong is going to race in the 2009 edition of Le Tour. It’s time to get ready for the showdown, when the past meets the present and the future of cycling is determined. It’s going to be exciting.

I want to be there, but on my bike.

Here’s a little tour that you can do which will follow the Tour around. It’s pretty pricey, but very easy on the legs. You average about 50 miles per day. That’s easy! of course it could be one day of 100 miles and the next of 2 miles. Either way, it sounds like fun. Maybe I have to start getting in shape.

“For the last time, Joe. I am not cold.” “Yes you are, and thanks to that dress, everyone knows it.”

Hiking the Dug Trail

This past weekend was spent in the woods, literally and figuratively. We were in West Virginia at a resort called, The Woods, which is in the woods. We spent time hiking and site seeing. Hiking on this short hike up the side of a rather tall hill. I think it was 600 vertical feet up. Since I stopped biking in August, that was the most exercise done in a while.

Anyway, more pictures on my flickr account. Soon, I will be posting my ghost hunting photos from Harper’s Ferry. 🙂

The weather’s here. Wish you were beautiful.

The seed and the rest of the gang are out there in paradise and enjoying life. Partying and having fun. While I’m here, thinking things through. You probably saw the seed’s series of posts taunting us. Here’s to him. That funny guy.

Gastronome Abound

Over the weekend, we celebrated a cousin's birthday by eating and drinking at the Brazilian churrascaria, Fogo de chao, in lovely downtown Baltimore. I'm not usually the one to offer a restaurant review. So I won't, and I'll leave it up to CapitolSwell or even OnoCoffee to jump in with their takes. All I can say is that's a lot of meat. Seated next to these gastronomes the talk drifted of going to Spain and starting a little café. They thought Barcelona. I thought otherwise. The city on the tip of my tongue which I couldn't get out that night was San Sebastian. I think of that place more and more because of the surf and the wild Atlantic that it abuts. Not to put down Catalan whose hot and sexy Mediterranean feel would be welcome any day this cold winter, but I think adventure would wait in the Northern climes of Spain. Anyhoo, I read this piece in Slate today about astonishing number of fine restaurants in the city of San Sebastian. Seems to me to be the place to be. For food. And the surf!http://www.slate.com/id/2178875/entry/2178877/

Ate at VIPS. Hamburger. Was really in the mood for some sort of rice dish. Walked around to the plaza del sol and back. Met a filippino. He talked about the cars have bumps on them because of parking. As long as the bumper doesn’t fall off. You’re fine.

Morning. It’s quiet. It seems no one’s awake. Got to go. Adiós, Madrid

What am I doing in my room? I should be out partying. Now. Got into Madrid about 2:30 yesterday. Ate some donuts on the road. Got told to fuck off by Walter because of driving en España. Had some tapas on the square. Ate dinner at 10:30 at Muséo dé Jamon. This hotel is too vogue-ish.

Toured Madrid all day. Went to the Prado. Saw just about everything again. Went to Rénia Sofia. Saw Miro, Picasso, Guarnica, Tired. Bought tchotkes. I’m out of cash. Only have €5.30.
