Bot Farms Harvesting Posts

Comment bots (or maybe humans) have been spamming the heck out of that Donald Trump QOTD. They suck. Almost looks real except the comment has nothing to do with anything. They all originate from the same IP address and have the same reply email. Just that they talk about nothing.

I am intrigued. Are they humans manually posting and being paid by the comment? What a job!

Just another reminder of the scourge of the internet.

Also, Donald Trump is butt.

Link of the Day [1.09.15]

Joe Flacco is maddening. Ain't he though?

On occasion he looks lost in the pocket not aware of what is happening around him. Then the playoffs start and he becomes laser focused. He still doesn't play all too well, but he wins.

In the playoffs, he beats other teams with QBs such as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Big Ben Roethlisburger. He beats teams with lesser QBs. He just wins.

Why then does he stink during the regular season?

Who is this guy?

Blind

Strange dream this morning. No, not about that girl. Nor the other one. But about a girl. More likely, girls in general.

I was in a golf cart at some golf course with my mom driving. She was driving haphazardly giving no courtesy to the players out on the course. A group on the tee was trying to hit us as we drove. I watched ball after ball come lazily drifting down at us. They were all nice drives.

At one hole, my mom knew one of the players. He asked the usual stuff of me: age, work, married or single. When he found out I was single, he said he I was just right for his daughter.

So, I ended up on a blind date. Which starts off with me waiting at some family restaurant. The waitresses know I was waiting for a girl on a date, so were harassing me in the way women tease men. I ordered a drink.

Next thing I knew, my date was there. We exchange pleasantries and begin to order. I try to order something that doesn’t require me to use my hands. No shrimp! Maybe a plate of chicken. We place our order and have another drink. I would need to go use the toilet. I excuse myself, the waitresses giggle, and I head for the bar which was where the toilets were located.

I would run into people making sure that my date went alright. Cousin Bob and Cousin Gigi in her silly floppy hat smoking cigars at the bar. CapitolSwell hanging out. I finish and head back.

She had people there making sure her date went alright. Her dad, her sister, her brother, and her brother’s girlfriend who was annoying. She was hysterical that they were going to break up and quickly dashed from the table with the brother giving chase. There was a plant on the table that made it difficult to talk to anyone at the table. I tried to move it with no success.

I’m there at a table waiting for the food to arrive on a blind date with a girl whose family is occupying most of the table. We haven’t even begun a discussion.

Then I woke up and wondered why I had such a dream.

Notice

One thing about being a nerd is that you become obsessive on things. Imagine if you were a nerd who loved, loved, loved the anime K-ON!!, then you would absolutely try to learn everything about the show. You’ll find out about the main characters. How tall is Mio? What’s Ritsu’s blood type? Where is Tsumugi from? Is Yui an orphan? Afterwards, you’ll begin to delve into the more esoteric things of the show like the background characters (NSFW). Yup. You’ll research who they are and what makes them tick. Just imagine how nerdy you have to be to do that.

Class 3-2 K-ON!

That’s pretty obsessive. And so kawaii!

Akira Kurosawa 100th

If he had lived this long, today would be famed Japanese director Akira Kurosawa’s 100th birthday. As you know, if you’ve been following me on twitter, TCM has been showing his films every Tuesday of the month. Tonight’s Seven Samurai, a film I regard as one of the best ever made and one of my 5 favorites of all time. Earlier this month, I also caught Ikiru, also pretty awesome, and caught up with Akahige (Red Beard), a feudal drama.

There is something about Kurosawa that I can’t really express. His films I love. The most famous actors he collaborated with, Toshiro Mifune and Takeshi Shimura, I too love. His stories, re-telling Shakespeare. His samurai epics. His crime thrillers. His humanism. Great, great stuff from a master of cinema. In the pantheon of great directors, he has got to be amongst the best of the best. He’s influenced me and I don’t even direct movies.

Happy Birthday to the Emperor, Akira Kurosawa! Celebrate by watching something he directed.

Quote of the Day [12.07.09]

“What I’m thinking in my head is, ‘Well, the truth is, Brian, we can’t solve global warming because I fucking changed light bulbs in my house. It’s because of something collective’.”

President Obama talking about the inanities of our national press specifically that fucktard Brian Williams.

The Legend of Tommy Voeckler

The most lucky of French cyclists (or unlucky if you see him go on a breakaway), Thomas Voeckler wins his first stage of Le Tour. Not of this years version, but of the several he’s participated in. Of course, he’s a former yellow jersey winner holding off Lance Armstrong for 10 days in 2004.

Way to go Tommy! Chapeau!

As you can see, he won the heart of all of France in 2004 in fighting to keep the yellow on the climb up the Plat de baile. He’s also one of my favorites, because of this charge and you can always count on him to go out a try and win a stage. Finally, he’s won one.
