Love in the Time of Cholera

Lance Mannion, my favorite blog writer, writes of missed opportunity at the bookstore. Loved the tale. Once again, he shows how compelling a writer he is always provocative and provoking of thinking from his readers.

I spend lots of my time in bookstores. Friday and Saturday nights or Sunday days perhaps just hoping for some kind of missed opportunity as well. Very little is left to chance and as it so happens it’s happened very little to me.

Except today, I was in the BN burning off a coupon for 60% off an item (Ken Burn’s Jazz for only $72!). I pay for my purchase. The girl ringing me up says as she hands me the bag, “You know you’re handsome.”

Uhh, thanks?!?.

And I walk away.

It brings me back to Lance Mannion’s post. Missed opportunity?

Maybe. I haven’t flirted with a girl in a long time. Was this even flirting? Did she say it as a statement of fact? Or was this something else? I am probably flattering myself, but I don’t ever remember a girl tell me something like that. Just one of those things I guess.

Congratulations to Al Gore

The president who should’ve been in 2000 won in 2007 the Nobel Peace Prize. He also won an Oscar and an Emmy. The dude hit the Triple Crown.

Remind me again what president fucktard has done?

“What if you’re managing something and you’re standing right next to a stupid guy.”

I’m saddened by this six year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Have we learned anything from them?

I have a feeling that we decided, in anger, to do something. Anything. And it was being led by president fucktard that we haven’t gotten anything done.

Bin laden is still out there. He’s taunted us again and again.

But all our government can do is say, “Dick Cavett!”

Can’t we do anything right?

Too old for toys?

My birthday is in a couple of weeks and in order to get correct presents I always have to post my list here.

I couldn’t think of anything as cool as getting this.

Just hinting.

Coming Soon

I usually don’t like watching a show at The Charles because it’s so far away and antiquated. Except they have a couple of movies playing that I really would like to watch, Paris, je t’aime and Once. They may be only playing for a limited time so I think I need to hurry up.

Also, The Charles is having a film noir retrospective until the end of summer. There’s some films there I want to see. In particular, Double Indemnity on the big screen would be rather cool. You know why.

Of course, also this upcoming week is a big movie one. Die Hard 4 is opening up today, Ratatouille for the weekend, and Transformers for July 4. That’s a lot to see in the theatres.

I hope to get to some of these.

Mission Accomplished

Fuck, yeah! Please, somebody shoot me.

What a wanker!

I don’t know how anyone could’ve taken him seriously. Ever. Right from the beginning you knew he was a wanker. Dude is the type that you want to have a beer with. Not the type you want to be your president. And even having a beer with him would make you feel uncomfortable, because he’s just a scuzz ball. Fucking America. Bunch of stupid wankers for electing this guy. TWICE.

“Fool me once, shame on you…”
