Boy did I jinx it this morning. On my way into work listening to my usual Nogizaka playlist, I was thinking of Kazumin. How she’s often forgotten and yet she, Maiyan, and Ringo are the only members left to have appeared in all Nogi senbatsu. As I got out the car, I thought it was a beautiful day, and being such, I thought that this would be the type of day a graduation announcement would drop. I was thinking about Fukagawa’s announcement so long ago. I checked stage48 to see if there was any bad news — usually at this time it catches the night time announcements like Ikoma’s and Nanase’s. There was nothing and I thought we dodged a bullet…

Imagine my surprise to see the rumors then the truth of Maiyan’s graduation. Wow.

For as long as I was a fan, her speculation on her graduation was always rampant. Now that it is here. Nothing can be said. Wow.

It’s not like a punch in the gut like Nanase’s was, but it’s still a surprise. I have been ready for it, here it is, but still. Wow.

She’s gonna graduate at the end of March with the release of the 25th single. I wonder if she’ll be center?

Twenty-four singles and for each they change their uniform. These are just their everyday garb. They also have a costume for when they perform the songs from that single.

I like the later ones than the earlier ones. I’m partial to the winter ones with stockings in place of socks. I like the ones with jackets and vests. The skirt length has gotten longer,

Anyhow, go check out the youngest in Nogizaka as she wears all the 24 uniforms. There’s even a bonus few more representing each successive generation.

I’ll always will remember the ending to that NogiBingo! episode wherein she lays asleep behind the scenes trying on the AD role.  That’s Sakurai Reika, Nogizaka46’s captain. 

By next week she will have graduated.  Here’s to our Captain!  JOLLY GOOD SHOW REIKA!  Well done and thank you…

I still don’t know what Nogi’s captain does.  Is she supposedly the task master keeping her fellow members in line?  Is she the members’ representative with the management?  Is she management’s lackey?  Who knows?  I”m sure the members do, but the thing I know is that Nogi’s captain is a reliable member meant to be steady and reasonable in the crazy idol world.  Reika seemed to embody that ideal. Although it seems like Nogizaka has an abundance of members like that.  So Reika was the most representative of the class and style of a Nogizaka member — a leader.  

Man, I’ll miss her. She’s been the only Nogizaka Captain I’ve known.

Suddenly, I’m sad that she’s graduating…

I am not feeling it yet. Also, with the other songs on this single… But I’ll always support them. Maybe to included extras on the BluRays would be completely worth my while.

Haruhi OP – made me the weeb I am today.

It’s been a week since the fire in Japan at Kyoto Animation studios. If you are just hearing about it the story is rather sad. Thirty-four employees of this famed animation studio were murdered by some nut via an arson attack. There were about another thirty survivors all in various conditions. It was the most tragic of crimes in Japan since the days of World War II.

Kyoto Animation means a lot to me. It has produced some of my personal favorite anime. K-ON! and Haruhi come to mind. Haruhi being my re-introduction into the anime world. K-ON! really is so good it’s my favorite of all time. This studio has done really fine work both in television and in the movie theatres. You can’t beat the K-ON! Movie, and you really can’t beat A Silent Voice movie. Both will make you cry. really is so good it’s my favorite of all time. Cry like the news from Japan…

I pray for those souls lost in this senseless attack. I pray for those survivors. I pray for the studio to come back and give us some more beautiful anime.
