明治神宮野球場

Link of the day because Nogizaka46 is back home at Meiji Jingu Stadium.

It’s been 3 years since they had performed there. Pre-pandemic, it was a yearly stop on their National Summer Tour.

I had bootleg from their last show there in 2019. I’ve lost it because I stupidly wiped my NAS looking for more space.

Anyhow, the final shows of this year’s National Summer Tour starts today (it’s Monday in Japan) the final two will be available on streaming. You know I will watch.

Nogizaka46 back at Jingu. Life is good.

#乃木坂46結成11周年

おめでとうございます!

It’s Nogizaka46’s formation anniversary. Eleven years ago 36 girls were chosen to form a new idol group to be the direct rivals to AKB48. At the time, it may have been a daunting task since AKB48 was at the height of their popularity. But from humble beginnings come big things.

Here we are 11 years later and at the moment they are the most popular idol group.

Congratulations!

Looking forward to more continued excellence from the members now going into their 5th Generation.

動力!感謝!笑顔!

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is the Pinoy Friday. It supposed to happen on one Easter Sunday amongst the Filipino community in the SF Bay area. It stars comedian Jo Koy and a bunch of other Filipino actors. Did you know Lou Diamon Philips is partially Filipino? Also Tia Carrera?

Back to the Friday’s analogy. The movie had it all. It was meant as a Filipino family film — look at the funniness that is Filipino family life. Then there was a subplot involving gangsters. What?

I guess they didn’t think a film about Filipino family life would’ve been enough. What a missed opportunity. I wonder what happened in the writers room? Did the studio step in? Jo Koy made his name as an observer of Filipino life. He should’ve stuck with what he knew. It is such a disappointment.

2 of 5 stars.

Baja Blast

It’s not like I’m gonna try another flavor. Okay maybe Code Red.

Although lately, I’ve been searching for Mountain Dew Baja Blast. Looking for it outside of Taco Bell, it’s natural home. It so happened back in June I bought a sixer, and then I became hooked on it.

I am always hoping to find it on my grocer’s shelves, but it is in limited release and in limited supply. As I do my weekly grocer shopping, I go down the sugary soda aisle hoping to see the electric blue. Sadly, it’s always one of the other flavors. Who likes Baja Gold? Or that watermelon looking one? Who is drinking those? It seems no one is as they are still unsold.

I am coming to the realization that maybe the summer of Baja Blast has come to an end. The shelves are full of Mountain Dew just no Baja Blast.

Top Secret Sensitive Compartmentalized Information…

Do you have clearance? Well, then you have to know how to handle the data for it. You take a course every year and then you also need to redo the background check every so often.

And you know the consequences of not handling it correctly or even going against your training and selling the country out.

Shit it’s real. And if you love your country then you wouldn’t do stupid ass shit. But if you don’t and only love yourself you do stupid ass shit.

Link of the Day [8.06.22]

I think I like train travel. I haven’t really done much, and in America it really doesn’t work, but it is very intriguing to me. I’ve done a few train trips before — once from Paris to Barcelona, a trip into Munich, trips to New York. It’s a small sample size, I know, but still I find it highly interesting.

So today’s link get’s you to see all the American routes of Amtrak. It does show you how to get from one side of the country to the other by the terrible American train network.

好きというのはロックだぜ!

Nogizaka46’s 30th single, “Suki to Iu no wa Rock daze!” and in English, “What I like is ROCK!” Kaki Haruka is its center. As a card carrying, 3rd Gen oshi it hurts that this is another single without a 3rd Gen center. The rate they’re going they may never get another center.

Anyhow, I’m not sure about the song. Long and monotonous. At least we get Mizuki in ponytail at the end. I’ll get back to you in a few months when this becomes my favorite song.

Summer Song 2022?

Wet Leg. Chaise Longue. Is this the song that made your summer?

It made mine.

I remember watching some of this last year. Maybe it was their other song, Your Mother. But this is the one that makes me rock out.

Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!

The numbers came up. Not the lot of them. But enough of them.

I made my money back and that is all that counts.

Actually, I made a profit.

Now what about the taxes?

You Might Find ’em in the Desert

In college a long way back, a friend and I had the midnight slot at our university’s radio station. The Orb’s Little Fluffy Clouds was a track I loved to play. Somehow, it’s been stuck in my brain for years.

Fast forward thirty years (!) and you can find it on the YouTube in several different ways. I chose for you an analog vinyl record. Zonk out to it here.
